Ready for the Education Conference!

All is set for the National Education Conference and Expo (NECE), which kicks off in Harare next Wednesday.

The organizers say this year's event, which marks its third installment, acts as a central point for sharing knowledge, building networks, and fostering collaborations. It provides an interactive stage for those involved in the educational field to gain insights, participate actively, and develop professionally.

Under the theme "Transforming Education in Zimbabwe: Embracing Innovation and Excellence," this conference offers an opportunity for networking, collaboration, and learning aimed at enhancing educational practices and achievements.

Alson Darikayi, who leads Action for Empowerment Zimbabwe—the organizers of the event—told The Standard People that they have reached an advanced phase in preparing for the three-day educational symposium.

“Everything is operational,” he stated.

Everything is set up, with only minor logistical issues remaining which will surely be resolved prior to the start of the conference.

We are fully prepared, and all our guest speakers are eager to start.

Education minister Torerai Moyo is the guest honour at the conference that would also graced by other ministers Tatenda Mavetera (Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services), Paul Mavima (Skills Audit and Development) and Frederick Shava (Higher and Tertiary Education).

Prominent educationist Tim Middleton, consul general of Zimbabwe in Israel, Ronny Levi Musan and Elevate Trust executive director, Sicelo Dube, will also be among keynote speakers during the three-day conference.

Darikayi said the conference aims to complement government efforts and initiatives in the educational sector to achieve Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG4 on Education.

“The theme emphasises the need for a paradigm shift in Zimbabwe’s education sector, focusing on innovative practices, cutting-edge technologies and excellence in teaching and learning,” he said.

Through fostering innovation and striving for excellence, this conference aims to support the transformation of Zimbabwe’s educational system, thereby enhancing the quality of education and equipping students with the skills needed for success in the 21st century.

The gathering assembles teachers, government officials, and professionals from various industries across the nation to exchange expertise and perspectives on current developments and topics within education.

Darikayi said conference outcomes would include a comprehensive report on the state of education in Zimbabwe, a set of recommendations for improving education as well as establishment of partnerships and collaborations among stakeholders

The topics for discussion will focus on infrastructure development and funding for education, educational policies and governance structures, the digitization of education systems, STEM education along with innovations, and also explore current policies and future directions in education.

The portraits of Zimbabwe have been brought about through the support of the U.S. Embassy. Dzviti was born in Shamva in 1961, and from this rustic background, he cultivated an interest in photography. He further honed his skills at Harare Polytechnic starting in 1987. This initiated a career spanning nearly ten years, notable for vividly portraying various aspects of Zimbabwean life. The narrative captured societal norms,...

NASCAR Clarifies Rules After Christopher Bell Stumbles in Wrong Pit Box

NASCAR has made a minor tweak to its regulations regarding entering another team’s pit box during stops, but this change serves mainly as an explanation rather than a significant alteration. Bell pulled out of his pit stall during Lap 108 for a tire change, but soon after, crew chief Adam Stevens noticed an issue with a loose wheel. Recognizing the problem promptly, Stevens instructed Bell to locate another team member’s pit area so that they could address and fix the Joe Gibbs Racing No. 20 vehicle effectively. This decision was made because a detached wheel while racing could lead to penalties for the tire changer and jackman lasting up to two weeks. After the race, Stevens mentioned that they had previously talked about such a situation and that he was aware it would result in a penalty only if they pitted outside their designated pit box. Stevens informed journalists following the event, "This topic isn’t new; we've addressed it previously....
