Rain and Gales Set to Sweep Through Several Provinces

Sri Lanka, May 24 -- Intermittent showers can be expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Northwestern, and Central provinces as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.

Scattered showers or thunderstorms are expected this evening or overnight in various areas of the Uva province as well as in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts. Isolated rainfalls might also take place in other regions.

Significant rainfall exceeding 75 millimeters is expected in certain areas within the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Northwestern provinces as well as in the Galle, Matara, Nuwara Eliya, and Kandy districts.

Moderate to strong gusts with speeds ranging from 30 to 40 kilometers per hour may occur occasionally across the western faces of the central mountains and within the Northern, North-central, North-western regions as well as the Southern provinces and Trincomalee district.
